Recipe: Creole Peas

Creole Peas

Way down yonder in New Orleans the food is as exciting as the music. Here is one you are sure to enjoy.

1 cup tomato juice
3 ribs celery, cut fine
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 stick butter
2-3 bay leaves
1/2 bell pepper, cut fine
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon flour
1 medium can English peas
1 can sliced mushrooms

Combine all incredients except flour, peas, mushrooms. Cook in large saucepan until celery is tender. Thicken with flour, Add peas and mushrooms. Cook until bubbly. Serves 6. You can substitute shrimp for peas.
